Friday, December 11, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday! We successfully completed our MAP testing and I am looking forward to disecting the scores to see where I can push the students in areas to excel and strenghten in areas of need.
The countdown is on to Winter Break. We have a full week next week, and 2 virtual days on the 21st and 22nd. Above is a schedule of our Holiday Spirit week. Of course the students do not have to participate but can if they would like too. LCEU just thought it would be a great way to celebrate the holiday season as well as our last week of face to face instruction before the new year. Have a great weekend and stay well!
Sincerely

Weekly Update for November 24th and 25th, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday! What a great week we had in room C115! I have been working with students individually this week and I am quite impressed at the work ethic and perserverance I have witnessed with each and every student. As their teacher, I am so very thankful they have each made a choice to make their education a priority. We will do great things this year, of this I am certain! Looking ahead to next week, the district announced that Monday and Tuesday of next week (the 23rd and 24th) will be virtual learning days from home. I will begin teaching each day at 9.m. Students may begin earlier as they will have independent work they can access through our Google Classroom. We will be done roughly each day by 2:15 and will have a break for lunch and recess from 11:30-12:15. School will be out for observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday beginning Wednesday until Friday. School will resume in person on November 30th. While I will miss being in the classroom with the students, I promise to make next week's virtual days fun and as stress free as possible. Have a great weekend!

Weekly Update for November 4th-6th, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday! The students and I worked hard this week to finish strong in our last week of virtual instruction. Beginning Wednesday, November 4th, phase 2 of our district's Covid plan will begin with face to face instruction for our class. I have very important information so please read this post in it's entirety.
Students will need to bring several important items when they return on Wednesday.
Each student will need their bookbag and in it should be a fully charged chromebook. Students will be taking chromebooks to and from school. I would also encourage students to bring their charger daily to ensure they have enough charge throughout the day. Chromebooks will remain with students at school and home in the event that he/she needs to quaratine, virtual learning can still occur.
Students will also need to bring their Big Ideas Math Workbooks. These will stay at school, as I will not be giving homework.
Students will also need to bring the school supplies listed in the email that I sent out on Monday. I will be storing these with safety for the students to use throughout the year.
Students will need a good pair of headphones that can stay at school. We will be using different currilculum platforms where students can work independently and headphones will be a must.
Students will also need to bring their interactive notebooks that we have been taking notes in. They should have a blue math, red ELA, yellow social studies and a green science one.
And lastly, Students may bring in a towel to sit upon when we can eat outside, whether permitting. This towel will remain in the student's cubby when not in use and will be sent home frequently for washing.
I am most definitely looking forward to next Wednesday, If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me. I am always here to help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight

Weekly Update for October 26th-30th, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Thursday! The blog update comes a day early this week due to the fact, that tomorrow after lunch I will be working with my school admin and peers to prepare for the return of students into our building. I sent out an email earlier explaining how the students will be working independently on their Google Classroom pathway from 12:15 until 2. They will still go to PE for their related arts and the Meet Link for PE will be on the pathway as well.
The countdown is definitely on! Only 6 more school days (Nov. 2nd and 3rd are school holidays) the students will finally be in my classroom, and our district's phase 2 of face to face learning will begin. I am excited to finally have students back in the classroom with me, and I promise you that I will be most dilligent with cleaning and making sure we are all socially distanced as required by the CDC guidlines.
Have a great weekend and I look forward to another great week at LCEU!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight

We just completed our first week of Boosterthon and our class is rocking! We are up to $29 per minute on our dance athon minutes and today our class won a mini virtual dance break with the Boosterthon Team! Our class got the most pledges overnight and started off our day with an awesome dance break. Our class has definitely got some moves!
Our class incentive for reaching $20 per minute was bring a stuffed animal to class and we reached our goal. So Monday, October 19th students may bring their favorite stuffed animal to class.

Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Thursday! This blog update will come to you a day early due to the fact that Friday, October 9th is a school holiday. School will resume for us on Monday, October 12th. Monday, October 12th will begin our school kick-off for our fundraiser this year. Our school will be particpating in Boosterthon, a program that incorporates stregntheing fitness skills and positive core values. Weekly Update for September 28th-Oct. 2nd, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday! Things are going really well in the classroom, I believe we have finally hit our stride. Next week I will begin my small group meetings while students are working independently. It will be an another meet link that I will send seperately in the chat bar and my group will consist of a few students whom I will read with and listen to them read. This is so very important, because in 3rd grade students who are not reading on grade level must be retained due to the passing of the Read to Succeed Law. My promise to all of you is to work diligently this school year to get your student to where he or she needs to be. What parents can be doing at home is reading with your child daily, have them read independently but also read aloud to you as well. Making reading a priority is crucial this year, and so far I am impressed at how committed my class is to reading on our online database Epic. Thank you for your support! I hope you all have a wonderul weekend and I look forward to another great week at LCEU!
Sincerely
Mrs. Dina Knight

Weekly Update for September 21st-25th, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
What a wonderful week we had! The students are growing more confident with the online learning platform and are making awesome progress. I just have to brag on them for a bit, they are all working so very hard at their studies while also still getting to know each other and me as well. It's hard to believe that next week will be the 4th week of school, the students are gaining such confidence and maturity as we all navigate these unchartered waters. Looking ahead to next week, we will continue to charge on in multiplication and start a new reading unit on context clues. In social studies we will continue to polish off our map skills and dive into writing just a bit deeper. We have a full week ahead but I know without a doubt, we will make it the best one yet! Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight

Weekly Update for September 14th-18th, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday! I think we all deserve a pat on the back, we survived a full week of testing! I want to thank you all so much for your support and assitance with our testing process this week. I truly could not have done it without you. Next week we will be back to our normal schedule and the amount and pace of the curriculum will need to pick up considerably. Please know I will be patient, and hold your students hand the entire way. We are truly in this together, and I am just as concerned with your student's frustration level as I am with their succes with 3rd grade curriculum. We will find the balance that is right for our classroom! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to having another great week at LCEU!
Sincerely
Mrs. Dina Knight
