Weekly Update for April 1st-5th, 2019

Dear Parents and Families,

We ended our week with our field study to the State Museum.  We had a wonderful time and I loved seeing the enthusiasm from the students as they saw first hand the units of study we have been focusing on all year long. I know they will sleep well tonight as well as myself!  A busy day but such a great day!  Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight

Weekly Update for March 25th-29th, 2019

Dear Parents and Families,

We had a great week and are looking forward to our field study next week to the State Museum.  Thank you Mr. Jarrett and Mrs. Smith for volunteering to chaperone, it is going to be a great experience and both the students and myself are quite excited!  We will begin loading the bus here around 9:15  to arrive at the museum by 10:00. We will tour the museum and break for lunch at 11:00-11:30 then tour again. We will load the bus  at 12:45 to get back to the school by 1:30.  If your student is bringing a lunch from home, please make sure you don't send anything that does not need to be refrigerated and please place the lunch in a plastic grocery sack with your students name and teacher labeled on the outside. Please have your student wear a LCE t-shirt so I can easily identify our students, and your student will have on a wristband with his/her information as well as mine.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

Sincerely
Mrs. Dina Knight

Dear Parents and Families,
This blog post will come a bit early due to the fact that there is no school on Friday, March 15th.  I hope you all enjoy the long weekend with your student, and I will cross my fingers hard that we have beautiful weather so we all can get outside!  I wanted to let you know that communication folders are going home today and in them you will find a permission form for our upcoming field study to the State Museum.  Our field study will take place on Friday, March 29th.  The permission form is detailed so please make certain to fill it out in it's entirety.  There is a place to check if your student will need a bag lunch from school.  If your student plans to bring a lunch from home, please make certain it is in a paper or plastic bag that can be thrown away.  If you would like to volunteer to chaperone this field trip, please email me. I will then put the names of who would like to attend in a hat and draw names. I will choose 2 and let those persons know by the end of next week. I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to another great week at LCEU!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight

Weekly Update for March 4th-8th, 2019

Dear Parents and Families,
Happy Friday!  We had a great week in class, and will be wrapping up a few units of study next week. In ELA, we will test on our Nonfiction text Penguin Chick on Friday and will also end perimeter with Module 7 on Wednesday with a quiz. We will continue studying fast and slow changes to the Earth in Science and Government in Social Studies. Next Thursday our class will take our District Writing Assessment. The scores are calculated by our 3rd grade teachers and are used to help guide our instruction by identifying which students need additional strategies in writing to help them become successful writers.   That is all I have for this week, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dina Knight
